MKMMA – Week 9

Multi-tasking. The ability to do several things at the same time. This became very important in my life when I first started out in the career world.

I took the position of a Customer Account Executive. This meant that I would assist customers with their questions and concerns, and resolve problems that required troubleshooting over the phone, all while taking notes and maneuvering through several computer systems. After going through weeks of training I went live on the phone. At first I started out shaky and slow, but with practice I became faster and more efficient. All of my statistics were within demarcation and I was considered as a mentor. I would assist others in learning how to do the same. I also received a lot of recognition for customer satisfaction. Some employees were more concerned with their statistics to concern themselves with how the customer felt at the end of the call. I went out of my way to make sure that I had done my best to resolve their problems and answer any questions they had. I would build rapport with the customer, provide empathy, diffusing difficult situations and making sure they felt appreciated.

We have heard in the past that people are either right brain thinkers or left brain thinkers. The idea is that we all have a dominant side of the brain. The left side is the logical, strategic and rational side. The right side is the creative, curious and intuitive side. Although we might seem to be one or the other, the fact is that we use all of our brain all the time. This is all thanks to the Corpus Callosum which acts as a bridge between the right and left side of the brain. This is why we are capable of being both logical and imaginative.

Everyone is unique and learns in their own way. There are 7 major learning styles. Visual, Physical, Aural, Verbal, Logical, Social and Solitary. It is very helpful to combine several learning styles. Learning becomes easier and information is retained longer.

This is why multi-tasking is so great. I was able to use several learning styles to improve my performance and statistics, engaging both sides of my brain to assist customers and resolve problems.

Now, as a Stay-At-Home Mom and a member of the MKMMA I can use these concepts and strategies to reprogram my subconscious mind and create a wonderful life for my family. I can take care of kidlets and listen to my musical DMP or to Master Key Audio files at the same time. Now that’s awesome!

  1. Great work, you lead by example. Which is a lost art these days. You also are the epitome of going the extra mile, which is what hill talks about, when he says to give more in service than you receive in dollars. Thank you for being such a great example of these things.
